COMPOSITION: HDF VS SYNTHETIC PVC
Laminate and vinyl differ in composition, but both offer extreme durability. Laminate is made up out of several layers. It starts with a beautiful design covered with a high-quality protective layer. The design is followed by a strong HDF body, which consists of compressed wood fibers and a supportive backing that stabilizes the plank.

Vinyl is also multi-layered and contains PVC and fiberglass components. The top layer consists of a design that is also covered with a protective layer. Under the design is the highly impact-resistant vinyl core, which is 100% free of harmful phthalates, followed by a stabilizing layer containing glass fibers and a vinyl backing.

LOOKS: ATTENTION TO DETAIL
Both laminate and vinyl flooring offer an unmatched level of realism. Subtle surface textures combined with fine grain structures to create a natural wood or stone effect.

COMFORT AND SOUND
Vinyl floors feel soft and warm to the touch. Walking on the floor is a pleasant experience in every way. Their acoustic performance muffles unwanted sounds from heels, boots, sneakers and paws.
Laminate floors tend to be a bit noisier due to their hard surface and light weight. They can also feel a little hollow underfoot.
While luxury vinyl floors already come with several sound-absorbing layers, you can further optimize the sound-absorbing properties of laminate with our Silent Walk underlay. This drastically reduces sound when walking on your laminate floor.

UNDERFLOOR HEATING
Both flooring types are compatible with radiant floor heating, although vinyl is slightly more efficient. Vinyl floors have the lowest thermal resistance of all Pergo floor coverings and act as excellent heat conductors.
MOISTURE RESISTANCE
Water repellent technology prevents water from damaging your laminate and vinyl floors. All vinyl floors are completely waterproof, and most of our Pergo laminate floors have an innovative AquaSafe coating in the grooves so water cannot penetrate. As a result, they are also waterproof and can be installed in any room of your home. In addition, both Pergo laminate and vinyl offer an extremely long warranty: up to 25 years and 20 years respectively.
WEAR AND TEAR
Pergo laminate and vinyl flooring are top performers when it comes to impact resistance, durability and scratch resistance. Smart technologies like the patented TitanX and superior protective top layer give our floors significantly higher scratch resistance. Although the difference is marginal, our laminate floors have a slight advantage over our vinyl floors when it comes to scratches and scuffs.
INSTALLATION: CLICK AWAY
Both types of flooring are easy to install thanks to our innovative PerfectFold™ click system. In fact, both Pergo laminate and vinyl are so easy to install, you can do it yourself!
MAINTENANCE: A CLEAN SWEEP
Regular vacuuming and mopping with a damp cloth, as well as the cleaning products in the Pergo Cleaning Kit, are all that is needed, as both laminate and vinyl floors are easy to clean.
