You'll be stuck with them for life
We craft our floors to last a lifetime. No matter what hazards like water, pets or kids put them through they'll stay by your side. For us durability is closely linked to sustainability, as durable products create less waste. And as you've probably figured out, sustainability is super important to us.
As the inventors of laminate flooring, we push boundaries in the pursuit of sustainability. For instance, the core of our laminate floors consists of HDF (high density fibreboard), made with wood from the waste streams of other industries. This is a good thing that minimises our impact on the environment. So, we’re proud of the recognition our hard work has given us. Such as being the first company ever to be awarded the Nordic Swan Ecolabel for a floor. Or the first ever to be honoured with the EU Ecolabel for a laminate floor. And, for our commitment to circularity, the first flooring manufacturer to receive a Cradle to Cradle Material and Health Certificate™ for a laminate floor. Yay, yay, and very much YAY!
Tough floors for rough play
Pergo laminate floors are designed for a lifetime of use – and are literally ready for whatever life, or the kids, throws at them. We make our floors tough and hardwearing for two reasons. First, we don’t want you to have to worry about your floor keeping up with you and your family. Secondly, products with an extended lifespan have a reduced impact on our planet's resources. Which is why we continue to invent superb technologies, such as scratch-resistant TitanX™ and AquaSafe. Unique protection to keep your laminate floors as something to boast about for a long time. As a result, our floors are some of the most environmentally sound flooring options available worldwide. In fact, Pergo laminate stands out as the first floor in the world to be certified with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel.
Lifetime warranty
Even though your Pergo laminate floor is about as durable as they come, things happen. An active lifestyle with kids, dinner parties, and the occasional pet trying to dig a hole in the living room, can be a challenge for any floor. However, with a Pergo laminate floor there’s really no need to worry. Their exceptional durability is complemented by a lifetime warranty (yes, you read it right). Because even if the floor doesn’t hold up for any reason, you’ll receive a new one, even after 30 years. This guarantees that your beautiful floor will accompany you for years to come. Which also aligns perfectly with our commitment to minimising the strain on the Earth’s resources. Win and win!

trees are the best
World champions in HDF recycling
For decades, we’ve been working hard to find ways to reuse wood, making its lifespan longer and the strain on the environment smaller. Which is quite complicated for about a thousand and one reasons, none of which we’ll bore you with here. Because now we should celebrate! We’re taking a monumental leap forward with our new, world-unique recycling technology. The UNILIN Group, the company behind Pergo, is currently the only manufacturer worldwide capable of recycling HDF fibreboards into new materials. Like the core of your Pergo laminate floor. We thereby double the lifespan of wood fibres, allowing new trees the time to grow and protect the environment by storing carbon dioxide. We're actively working towards incorporating 25% recycled waste into our HDFs by 2030.
A renewable fighter
Trees are like the world champions of everything. Not only are they breathtakingly beautiful and a renewable treasure; they are also a fierce ally. Trees play an important role in the fight against climate change. They are brilliant at absorbing CO2, and securely retaining it. This captured carbon then stays there for the wood’s entire life, even when crafted into a beautiful laminate floor for your home. The CO2 is only released through incineration, an outcome we strive to delay as long as possible. Hence our long-lasting, super durable floors and lifetime warranty.
Recovered wood is brilliant for wildlife
The fact that trees are important for both animals and biodiversity probably doesn’t come as a surprise. Then neither should our preference for utilising wood by-products, rather than harvesting new trees. We thus use 100% recovered wood when crafting the core of your laminate floor – simply by gluing wood fibers together and pressing them at high density. Easy as that! We gather this wood waste from sawmills, roadside upkeep, and similar sources. So, thank you for helping make use of what would otherwise be thrown away or incinerated.
Responsible spells PEFC
Our laminate floors hold the esteemed certifications of PEFC. Yes, we know, there are so many kinds of certifications and ecolabels floating around. One less serious than the other. Not this one, though, it’s one of the most credible endorsements of sustainable sourcing that exist. It provides an assurance that the wood used in your floors originates from responsibly managed forests, or controlled settings. Important things like that. Through rigorous risk assessment, they protect primeval forests and counteract illegal logging. As a result, you can proudly show off your stunning new Pergo laminate floor, confident that it doesn’t contribute to deforestation.
A breath of fresh air
We've got your back
We spend a significant portion of our lives indoors. We, meaning all of us, you, and everybody else as well. Naturally, this puts focus on the quality of indoor air. A super important and complex matter, as a million different things affect it. Including ventilation, cleaning products, candles, and even the materials used for furnishings and flooring. By crafting your flooring in-house, we have a deep understanding of the materials involved, so we have full control that no potentially harmful substances are released. Therefore, rest assured that your Pergo floor is a good choice for you and your family.
What the heck are VOC emissions?
Sorry for becoming a bit technical (maybe even boring), but we feel this is kind of crucial. VOCs, or volatile organic compounds, possess high vapour pressure at room temperature. This means that they’re really good at turning into gas and spreading into the air, even when it’s not hot. That’s a bad thing. One example of a VOC is formaldehyde, which can be present in various flooring materials. But there’s no need to panic! Our laminate flooring exhibits negligible formaldehyde emissions, even below the strict EU-mandated limits. This means your family’s safety is ensured. In fact, our flooring emissions are as low as those of natural wood. This is backed by our M1 and A+ labels, accolades that certify our top-class minimal emissions achievement.
Going for green energy
Powered by waste
We don’t even let our waste go to waste. That would be disrespecting the planet’s resources. Instead, we find a new purpose for it – allowing it to become something beautiful and positive: great, powerful, green energy. For instance, the finely textured wood dust generated when we saw and sand might be unfit for recycling, but it’s an ideal heat source for our tumble dryers and presses. Presently, we meet 70% of the heat requirement for producing our laminate and vinyl using sustainable energy sources.
Never green enough
The UNILIN Group, Pergo’s parent company, has invested in two biomass plants dedicated to converting wood dust and non-recyclable wood waste into green energy. This energy powers our production processes, and more besides. In addition, we harness wind turbine and solar panel energy. This collective approach enables us to operate 60% of our Group’s production with renewable energy resources.
We like tough standards
Don't take our word for it
We’ve been a kind of trailblazer when it comes to flooring manufacture in Europe. A statement you really shouldn’t believe. Well, if it weren’t for our certifications, that is. Because we actually can prove it – as the very, very first laminate flooring manufacturer to receive both the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, the EU Ecolabel and a Cradle to Cradle Material & Health Certificate™ at bronze level. These are only given for products and services that achieve the highest environmental standards throughout their entire life cycle. So, don’t just take our word for it.
Are we there yet?
NO! Not by a longshot, and we’ll probably never be done, as there are always ways to improve. In our continuous effort to reduce our impact and be more environmentally conscious with our laminate flooring, we use a method called ‘lifecycle assessment’ (LCA). This helps us find ways to improve each product at every stage of its life. The results are summarised in an ‘environmental product declaration’ (EPD), which guides our path towards greater sustainability.
